Instructor Pool - Music Department Information
The Performing Arts department is seeking to expand its pool of part-time faculty to teach MUS (Music & Music Technology Classes) starting Fall 2025. We anticipate a need for instructors in Songwriting, Music Theory, Group Classes (Piano/Guitar/Voice), Choral and Instrumental Ensembles, and Jazz History. The ideal candidate will embrace innovative and inclusive processes, integrate emerging works and technology, and focus on the highest levels and techniques for learning and public service. Hourly The initial salary placement will be determined by the application process. The benefits package includes a generous contribution toward medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, and paid sick leave. Part-time faculty may be eligible for full contracted benefits after meeting criteria. Working Schedule
Classes as assigned by the Division Dean based on need, enrollment, and availability of contracted and senior part-time faculty. Required Education
Master’s Degree in Music or Music Education from a regionally accredited institution. Required Education for Jazz History only: Master’s Degree including 9 quarter hours of upper-division/graduate level Music history courses. Required Experience
Songwriting: One year teaching experience and proficiency in songwriting curriculum. Music Theory: Two years teaching experience in core theory classes with proficiency in 1st year curriculum. Group Piano: One year teaching experience and performance experience on piano. Group Voice: One year teaching experience and performance experience in voice. Group Guitar: One year teaching experience and performance experience on guitar, plus two years directing experience in Jazz or large Jazz ensemble. Symphonic Band: Two years directing experience in Symphonic band or Wind ensemble. Choral Ensembles: Two years directing experience in choir, with additional teaching experience and performance in Jazz. Licensure or Certification Requirements
Criminal background check required. Must work and reside in Oregon. Preferred Qualifications

Lane Community College has a comprehensive music program that includes Music Technology, Geography, Sight Reading/Ear Training, Keyboard Skills, Ensemble Conducting, and Music History. We are expanding our pool of potential instructors for Fall 2025 and beyond. Essential Functions
Exhibit compliance with College policies and procedures. Sustain currency in discipline and innovation in teaching. Participate in faculty performance evaluation. Maintain office hours, manage student records, and ensure classroom quality. Problem solve and manage sensitive information with FERPA awareness. Provide high-quality classroom instruction and develop course materials. Incorporate college values into curriculum and promote a respectful learning environment. Deliver curriculum in traditional and online formats. Online Teaching and Student Support
Engage in online course environments with substantial interaction. Monitor student progress and provide coaching. Review and grade all work with timely feedback. Ensure materials meet Section 508 guidelines and use effective online teaching strategies. Equity and Inclusion
Demonstrate commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural competency. Follow ADA compliance and support accessibility. Respectfully engage all students and staff regardless of identity. Supervision Statement
Faculty report to the Senior Instructional Dean of Arts, performing instruction-related duties in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the college. Physical Demands/Working Environment
