UX Researcher (Chicagoland-based Contractor)

We partner with product, design, and strategy teams across many industries to shape useful, safe, and inclusive experiences. As a contractor, you will support studies that reduce risk and move products forward. Variety is the norm here. You might be asked to support a project that evaluates in-vehicle interfaces with drivers, and the next request might be talking with participants who are blind or have low vision to ensure they can successfully navigate a voice-enabled prototype. The range keeps us learning and growing. What you’ll do
Contribute to research engagements from planning through readout while aligning to budgets, timelines, and objectives. Deliver on those project plans while creating touchpoints that exceed client expectations Define inclusion and exclusion criteria, convert them into effective recruitment screeners, and manage external recruiters Specify research lab requirements and coordinate with external facilities when needed Design and field surveys to complement qualitative work Moderate sessions and ensure accurate, reliable data capture Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and connect insights to clear design and product recommendations Create layered deliverables: concise executive summaries for C-level leaders and product owners, and detailed evidence for research and design teams Communicate findings clearly and keep stakeholders aligned from kickoff to handoff What you’ll bring
Behavioral research design and user-centered design principles Ability to define criteria, build screeners, and manage recruiting partners Comfort specifying lab needs and working with external facilities Experience designing and fielding surveys Strong moderation skills and disciplined data capture Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data and tell a compelling story with recommendations Skill in summarizing findings in meaningful, impactful deliverables Clear, respectful communication with project teams and clients Office Suite and Google Workspace proficiency is required Experience
Hands-on exposure to behavioral research methods in industry is required, along with the ability to turn data and observations into a compelling narrative with actionable design recommendations Master’s degree in behavioral research–related field preferred, or comparable professional experience in UX research, human factors, industrial or cognitive engineering, information architecture, or similar 3+ years of UX research experience Requirements
Available to conduct in-person research at our Downers Grove, IL and/or Chicago research lab Must have a current driver’s license and vehicle If you’re excited by what you’ve read and think you’d thrive here, we’d love to meet you.
