ABOUT THE ROLE This role is a key participant in the design process, translating ideas into built‑environment solutions, and providing project design leadership across multiple projects. You will nurture and develop people and serve as a voice for design excellence within your team and office.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
Collaborate with design leaders and team members to conceptualize and develop design solutions through all phases of a project. Create innovative concepts that synthesize the client’s culture, goals, and aspirations for tailored solutions.
Support senior design leaders by translating shared design goals and ideas for both the team and the client. Focus on schematic design and design development, and collaborate closely with project architects to guide detailing and construction documentation. Provide guidance on design intent during construction administration.
Prepare and direct client presentation materials, particularly 2D and 3D design visualizations, to convey the design compellingly. Lead design presentations when required to support the project and team.
Work within our integrated practice by collaborating with interior designers and typology subject‑matter experts on holistic exterior‑to‑interior solutions.
Collaborate with technical leaders and engineers to consider building systems sensitively, coordinating design intent with other disciplines.
Integrate performance‑based and sustainable design strategies, supporting the building performance group in energy modeling efforts.
Apply these approaches to the design of large‑scale projects and/or multiple projects simultaneously.
Mentor and grow emerging professionals, fostering an environment of collaboration, experimentation, innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
Perform other duties as assigned.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture required. Preferred if from an accredited program.
Minimum 8 years of related professional experience required.
Architectural Registration in the United States preferred.
LEED accreditation preferred.
Knowledge of building codes and requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Technical knowledge of exterior and interior materials and building assemblies.
Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities.
Fully qualified professional able to perform work with high latitude and some ambiguity.
Ability to coordinate multiple disciplines to achieve design intent.
Command of Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office required; additional 3D modeling experience in Rhino or comparable software preferred.
Experience with real‑time rendering and 3D rendering software such as Enscape, Twinmotion, and/or V‑Ray required, demonstrated through a portfolio of past and current visualization work.
Experience with digital media creation and editing in the Adobe Creative Cloud applications required.
Some experience in computational design tools such as Grasshopper and Dynamo preferred.
SALARY & BENEFITS The salary range for this position in Buffalo, New York is $88,600 to $110,700 annually, anticipated at posting time. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level of the selected candidate. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
