Position Overview The

Marketing Manager

will support firm-wide marketing, communications, and business development efforts under the leadership of the

Director of Communications and Business Development . This position plays a key role in creating, editing, and managing proposals and marketing materials that reflect the firm’s design values and vision.

The ideal candidate will combine strong graphic and writing skills with an understanding of the design world — someone who enjoys crafting compelling stories, has excellent attention to detail, and is eager to learn how marketing and communications contribute to a design firm’s success.

Key Responsibilities Proposal and Marketing Production Support the Director of Communications and Business Development in creating, editing, and organizing all

proposals, RFPs, and RFQs . Develop

clear, compelling narratives

that communicate HDLA’s expertise and design philosophy. Manage and maintain up-to-date

marketing materials , including project sheets, firm resumes, and portfolio content. Coordinate

graphic layouts and visual storytelling , ensuring alignment with the firm’s brand, tone, and aesthetic. Ensure all written materials are consistent, well-edited, and aligned with HD’s standards of quality and design excellence. Communications and Outreach Assist in

researching and identifying key decision makers and emerging markets

within both the public and private sectors. Support

strategic planning and outreach initiatives

that position the firm for upcoming opportunities. Help organize and track

client meetings, follow-ups, and marketing events . Manage and create

social media content

across all platforms, maintaining a consistent brand message. Support the Director in implementing

annual marketing and communication strategies . Collaboration and Engagement Work closely with design and leadership teams to ensure the firm’s message is clearly represented across all communications. Participate in community and professional engagement activities to represent the firm’s brand and values. Contribute to a creative, collaborative, and supportive studio culture.

Performance Metrics Success in this role will be evaluated based on: Quality, clarity, and consistency of proposal and marketing deliverables. Ability to maintain schedules and deadlines for submissions. Contribution to the firm’s visibility and communication effectiveness. Support and collaboration with the Director of Communications and firm leadership. Engagement with the professional and local community.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in

Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field . 0–3 years

of experience in marketing, communications, or related fields (experience in a design or A/E firm preferred). Strong

writing, editing, and communication skills

with impeccable grammar and attention to detail. Proficiency in

graphic design software , especially Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). Understanding of — or strong interest in — the

landscape architecture and design industry . Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple deadlines. Enthusiasm for collaboration, storytelling, and community engagement.
