Creative Development Overview The Creative Development team is responsible for adapting our stories into audio series and assembling the best possible writing teams for each show. We are looking for an EP/Showrunner who will serve as Head Writer for one of our crime-led audio series. The ideal candidate is a seasoned writer with expertise in the audio market and a proven ability to craft gripping, high‑stakes, character‑driven storytelling. We’re specifically interested in writers experienced in adapting crime, thriller, or mystery IP for U.S. audiences.
Responsibilities
Determine the creative vision and direction of the crime series, incorporating audience insights and cultural nuances of the source material.
Work with 1 staff writer to adapt licensed foreign crime/thriller content into long‑form (200hr+) audio storytelling.
Build outlines, plot architecture, investigation arcs, and long‑term structure for the adaptation, and execute the writing plan through your own pages.
Review and provide detailed feedback on all scripts.
Oversee the editorial workflow, managing the story editor and staff writer to ensure scripts are delivered on schedule.
Read, review, edit, write, and rewrite 95k–150k words each month.
Monitor series performance and pivot story strategy based on acquisition and retention metrics.
Oversee end‑to‑end content workflow and provide regular progress updates to senior leadership.
Support innovation initiatives, including narrative A/B tests.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of crime storytelling, mystery construction, pacing, character development, and narrative craft.
Bachelor’s degree in Writing, Language Studies, Film, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in long‑form creative writing and editing—narrative fiction, line editing, publishing, scriptwriting, serialized storytelling, etc.
Must be comfortable with rigorous editing, high output, and tight deadlines.
Flexibility and versatility as a writer, especially across sub‑genres such as detective fiction, psychological thrillers, procedural drama, and crime suspense.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and organization.
Strong preference for candidates who have experience with serialized fiction platforms (e.g., WebNovel, Wattpad, Royal Road, Radish) and are fans of crime‑focused storytelling—from noir and thrillers to procedurals, mystery web‑novels, Asian crime fiction, and similar genres.
Please note that candidates will complete a brief writing exercise as part of the application process and a story‑planning assignment during the interview process, and will participate in behavioral interviews.
