California Preservation Foundation is hiring: Junior Designer in San Francisco

Award-winning historic preservation firm ARG seeks a Junior Designer to join our San Francisco office. The ideal candidate has a commitment to design excellence, an appreciation for historic buildings, and an interest in working on all phases of architectural projects. ARG offers an office‑centric hybrid work environment with an option to work remotely up to two days a week.

The job entails collaborating with architects, designers, historians, material conservators, and preservation planners in a collaborative environment that provides a variety of creative interactions.

The ideal candidate meets the following criteria:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited school of Architecture;
• Demonstrated interest in historic preservation and adaptive reuse;
• Strong design skills and ability to implement design concepts, organize presentations, and prepare design and construction documents;
• Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently while maintaining quality of work;
• Excellent communication with clients and colleagues;
• Expressed interest in sustainable design;
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
• Team player who contributes to a positive and effective work environment; and
• Creative problem solver who enjoys working on a diverse range of exciting projects.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $68-$75K, commensurate with experience. ARG offers a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, disability, 401k plan, PTO, and cell phone stipend.

Pay Range (Annual): $60,000 – $80,000
