Senior Home Designer

About the Role

Our client a high growth luxury sleepwear brand, is seeking an experienced Senior Home Designer with strong expertise in product and textile design across bedding, toweling, and the broader soft home category. This role goes beyond surface design — it encompasses full product creation, from concepting and materials development to construction, form, and functional details.

You will lead the creative development of home products that are elevated, thoughtful, and deeply aligned with the brand aesthetic. The ideal candidate brings a refined design sensibility, strong technical understanding of home goods, and a proven track record of bringing commercially successful, beautifully executed home collections to market.

This role is highly collaborative and will partner closely with Product Development, Merchandising, Sourcing, Production, and cross-functional leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

Product & Design Ownership

Lead the design and development of bedding, bath, and soft home products from ideation through final production.

• Own product form, construction details, proportion, materials, and finishing — not just textile artwork.

Trend, Consumer & Market Insights

Identify and translate macro and micro home trends across lifestyle, color, texture, pattern, silhouette, and functionality.

• Understand competitive landscape and opportunities within premium home.

Material & Product Development

Partner with sourcing to develop and select fabrics, yarns, trims, fills, and finishes that meet brand standards for quality, comfort, durability, sustainability, and cost.

• Innovate on materials and product construction to elevate the brand.

Technical Design & Product Execution

Create detailed CADs, tech packs, construction sheets, and specs suitable for factory execution.

• Manage design iterations, revisions, and sample approvals through all stages of development.

Assortment Strategy

Contribute to the long-term vision and roadmap for the home category.

• Ensure collections are both brand-right and commercially viable.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Work closely with merchandising, sourcing, and production to ensure feasibility, cost alignment, and adherence to timelines.

• Partner with mills and overseas vendors to align on design, materials, and execution.

Brand Elevation

Uphold and evolve the brand’s aesthetic through cohesive storytelling, premium materials, and thoughtful design decisions.

Qualifications:

7+ years of experience in home product and textile design, with emphasis on bedding, toweling, and soft home categories.

• Strong portfolio showcasing product development, textile design, construction knowledge, and finished goods.

• Experience working directly with mills and global manufacturing partners.

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD tools, PLM systems, and tech pack creation.

• Strong understanding of materials, fills, quilting, weaving, jacquards, knits, trims, and finishing techniques.

• Ability to design creatively within cost, timeline, and commercial parameters.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and project-management skills.

Who You Are:

  • A highly creative, detail-oriented designer with a refined aesthetic.
  • A self-starter capable of driving projects from concept to completion.
  • Collaborative, resourceful, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

This role is based in NYC and is on a hybrid schedule with 3 days in office.
