3D Environment Artist for Fantasy Game Development-REVSHARE
We're building a core team of passionate creatives who believe in the long-term vision of Mawforged. This is a revenue-share/equity-based position as we finalize our initial funding rounds. Mawforged is a first-person dark fantasy strategic warfare game developed in Unreal Engine. Players lead factions through brutal combat, political maneuvering, and resource-driven warfare deep within the cavernous underground world known as the Maw.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Build modular environment kits, hero props, and set-dress levels for readability & gameplay flow.
Create trimsheets/tileables, vertex blends, decals; author PBR materials and smart masks.
Sculpt/texture terrain and large forms; assemble worlds using UE5 (World Partition, HLOD).
Light scenes for mood and playability (Lumen awareness) and optimize for performance (Nanite/LODs).
Collaborate with Level Design, Tech Art, and VFX to marry atmosphere with encounter design.
Keep source files and documentation clean (naming, scale, texel density, export presets).
Portfolio showing real-time environment art (stylized or realistic, strong mood & composition).
Proficiency in Blender/Maya, Substance Painter/Designer, ZBrush, and UE5 integration.
Solid grasp of modularity, texel density, UVs/bakes, and performance budgeting.
Comfort with graybox → final art iteration and cross-discipline feedback loops.
Foliage creation, procedural workflows (Houdini), or landscape tools (Gaea/World Machine).
Lighting/post-process finesse for dark, atmospheric scenes.
Experience shipping on PC with multiplayer performance constraints.
