Position Summary:

As a Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician at Oncor, you’ll be responsible for importing and correcting Distribution design data within Oncor’s GIS model. This role is expected to accurately import design data in adherence to Oncor’s graphical standards while ensuring minimal impact to business operations and GIS model connectivity. This individual will collaborate with all stakeholders to resolve conflicts and ensure timely processing of design playback. This position is a hybrid role based in our 777 Main St – Fort Worth, TX location. We are considering applicants with multiple experience levels and skills. Please see below for minimum experience requirements for each level.

Key Responsibilities

Gather, format, process, and/or facilitate the importation of data into the Oncor GIS datasets for varying data formats and sources in adherence to AeGIS graphical standards

Coordinate with Project Management Design Services (PMDS) Teams to perform timely design playback into AeGIS

Perform QA/QC of AeGIS map corrections and design edits, as necessary

Knowledgeable of processes and systems that support data transfer into and out of AeGIS

Partner with Designers, Distribution Support, and Distribution Operation Center (DOC) personnel to ensure distribution map data is accurate related to connectivity

Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure low number of mapping errors

Edit and maintain Oncor’s Distribution map data in GIS versioned database

Track and update status on individual tasks assigned

Test changes and enhancements supporting Distribution applications, where applicable

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office products

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required

Self-motivated and works with a minimal level of supervision

Strong communication skills

Appropriately prioritizes work, with ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced work environment

Education & Experience

High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required

1+ year of experience in GIS editing and version management is encouraged to apply for Technician Level I

2+ year of experience in GIS editing and version management is required for Technician Level II

Applicants with a working knowledge of distribution or GIS mapping processes, Outage Management System (OMS)/AeGIS or equivalent distribution GIS or design program experience are encouraged to apply

Applicants with an understanding of electrical distribution systems and connectivity, GIS editing and version management, and knowledge of feeder connectivity, phasing and protective devices encouraged to apply
