Good Shepherd Parish in Wayland, MA is looking for a full-time Music Director. The position calls for thirty hours per week (30 hrs/wk), year-round. Duties will include: Selecting and Planning the Hymns and Responsorial Psalm for Liturgies for Solemnities, Funerals, and Weddings Training and Rehearsing the Cantors, Choir, and Instrumentalists Growing the Volunteer Music Ministry (Recruiting Cantors and Choir Members) Coordinating Schedules for Cantors and Choir Playing Piano/Organ at three (3) Weekend Masses, Funerals, Confirmation, the Easter Triduum, Holy Days of Obligation, and Other Special Liturgies Securing a fill-in musician to play at Sunday evening Mass Maintaining both Physical and Digital Libraries of Music and Repertoire Lists Creating and Maintaining a Children’s Choir for Christmas and Easter Administrative Duties Related to the Upkeep and Proper Functioning of Music Ministry The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Sacred Music and have significant experience in music ministry. A knowledge of and reverence for the Catholic Mass, good communication skills, willingness to cooperate with the Pastor and other staff members are a must. The candidate should be a Catholic in good standing. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
