The Outreach & Communication Assistant supports the promotion and visibility of the Student Life and Wellness Center (SLWC) and its programs through engaging social media content, event coordination, and campus outreach.

Responsibilities Event Coordination

Assist in the planning, development, and execution of SLWC events.

Collaborate with the Program Director and Manager on events related to fitness classes, personal training, or the facility.

Attend events, fitness classes, and schedule sessions to capture content for marketing.

Coordinate with staff regarding event logistics, prize giveaways, and participant needs.

Promote events through social media and campus-wide digital signage.

Social Media Management

Post consistently (3–4 times per week) across SLWC social media platforms.

Create and share engaging content including photos, videos, stories, and reels.

Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely manner.

Repost relevant content from campus partners to increase awareness.

Research trends and audience preferences to guide content creation.

Monitor and maintain social media branding and design.

Recommend and implement new features such as giveaways, promotions, and competitions.

Campus Outreach

Represent the SLWC at events such as Jumpstart Orientation and other campus outreach opportunities.

Promote SLWC offerings and engage with prospective members and students.

Answer questions and provide information about facility and program offerings.

Marketing & Signage

Ensure printed and digital flyers are current and posted throughout the facility and across campus.

Coordinate with Digital Signage to broadcast SLWC events and promotions.

Reporting & Analysis

Provide monthly reports on event attendance, social media engagement, and trends.

Offer recommendations on whether to continue or revise past events.

Present weekly updates during staff meetings with insights on post reach, engagement, and follower growth.

Qualifications Must be a current UVU student.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience running and managing social media accounts

Knowledge of Recreation programming and special events

Knowledge of various marketing skills and strategies
