Position Summary The Sr. Manager, Architectural Design provides primary leadership and expertise to various newbuild, revitalization, and refurbishment projects. In collaboration with the Sr. Director, Architectural Design, this candidate oversees and manages projects from conception to completion, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role involves leading project teams, coordinating with architects and consultants, and providing strategic direction to achieve project goals. Responsibilities include managing ownership budgets, schedules, programs, communications, documentation, office administration, and team assignments. The candidate estimates fees, determines scope, reviews proposals and contracts on complex projects, and offers oversight and mentoring for team members. When the Sr. Director is absent, the Sr. Manager may act in that capacity. The right candidate thrives in a multi‑disciplinary, dynamic team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Directs, develops, and maintains overall design processes for all assigned projects.

Independently oversees coordination of a multidisciplinary team through multiple phases of a project.

Serves as the main liaison between consultants and technical teams and internal design, product, and construction teams to provide guidance on project priorities and schedules.

Monitors quality and suitability of consultants, ensuring design goals are met and aligned with brand vision.

Engages senior leadership in long‑range planning and objectives.

Upholds design guidelines, CADD & drawing standards, and contract references while ensuring timely delivery of materials.

Develops team resources (people, processes, tools) for managing large‑scale projects and shares best practices with external architectural, interior design, and consultancy firms.

Upholds SQM and guidelines throughout all design phases, creating new methods and processes for better execution.

Leads presentations and project reports for executive and leadership review.

Creates planning models supporting the organization’s mission and values, monitoring external opportunities to execute strategy.

Tracks financial aspects of projects, coordinating work effort to meet schedule parameters.

Communicates effectively with consultants and internal teams to evaluate solutions and deliver value‑added services.

Manages stakeholder and consultant relationships and escalates issues in a timely fashion.

Motivates project teams to collaborate effectively and correct course to achieve goals.

Oversees design of large developments in hospitality and commercial applications, and manages deliverables at all project phases.

Supports RCI policies on delivery, quality control, and safety.

Provides quick mark‑ups and alternative solutions for immediate response areas.

Creates change management frameworks for design processes.

Promotes effective communication of difficult or sensitive information.

Identifies opportunities for improvement and proposes constructive change.

Maintains engagement with emerging industry practices.

Administers additional responsibilities as required, including coordination of project architects, participation in design meetings, governing agency reviews, and facilitating product development alignment.

Ensures design-related updates to core project teams comprising product development, project management, construction, and operations members.

Conducts concept design, schematic design, design development, and contract document work sessions with relevant stakeholders.

Operates as a liaison for design updates to the core project teams and facilitates consultant meetings to advance project goals and timelines.

Communicates project info to leadership, including ideation sessions, technical reviews, and feasibility options.

Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

Ten or more years of professional experience and an accredited professional degree in architecture; licensure preferred but not required.

Bachelor of Architecture degree.

Minimum of 8 years of related design experience in hospitality, Retail/Dining/Entertainment, theme park projects, and at least 5 years of project management experience.

Experience on campus‑style developments (multiple buildings).

8+ years of experience within the cruise design industry preferred.

Minimum of 10 years managing multi‑million‑dollar projects and high‑performing teams.

Proficient in AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and related tools.

Experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Bluebeam, Photoshop.

Ability to lead teams on projects.

Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of communicating effectively with all management levels and across diverse global cultures.

Strong planning and mentoring capabilities.

Exceptional organizational and analytical problem‑solving skills.

Ability to travel internationally or domestically at least 25% of the time.
