MADE Chicago is seeking a Ceramic Studio Assistant Technician to support our ceramics department. This position is ideal for a current college student studying ceramics or a recent graduate with studio experience who is eager to deepen their technical and professional skills in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities
Reclaim clay using a pug mill and maintain reclaim systems Load and unload electric kilns safely and efficiently Mix slip and manage material inventory as needed Assist with general studio maintenance and cleanliness Support instructors and students with studio needs Check in students & teachers on Saturday mornings Occasionally assist with glaze mixing and glazing processes (experience preferred) Qualifications
Previous experience working in a ceramic studio (educational or professional) Strong understanding of studio safety and best practices Punctual, reliable, and attentive to detail Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team Interest in supporting a creative and educational community Preferred Qualifications
Experience mixing glaze and applying glaze to work Familiarity with basic ceramic materials and firing schedules Schedule & Compensation
Part‑time position; Wednesday & Thursday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Saturdays 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Additional shift pickup opportunities will be available. Pay is $18 per hour.
