Homepage Editor
to work full-time freelance shifts (Monday–Friday) in our Midtown Manhattan newsroom. Occasional weekend shifts may be required. We’re seeking an exceptional editor with the confidence to make sharp editorial calls, the vision to steer content strategy, and the agility to thrive under deadline pressure. This is an in-office role, and candidates must be legally eligible to work in the U.S.
The Role As Homepage Editor, you’ll take charge of The U.S. Sun’s digital front door. Working alongside the senior backbench team, you’ll curate and edit the homepage to showcase our strongest journalism and lead the national news agenda. You’ll also edit copy across sections, sign off on push notifications and newsletters, and ensure our coverage is fast, accurate, and engaging — putting our audience at the center of everything we do.
What We’re Looking For
At least 3 years of journalism experience, with a proven editing background.
A sharp news sense and instinct for stories that resonate with U.S. readers.
Strong copy-editing, headline writing, and visual storytelling skills.
Familiarity with analytics, SEO, and social media platforms.
Previous homepage editing or fast-paced digital newsroom experience strongly preferred.
What You’ll Do
Curate and update the homepage to showcase our best stories.
Edit copy to ensure it is punchy, accurate, and legally sound.
Sign off push notifications and newsletters so we’re first and best on breaking news.
Provide feedback to reporters and maintain The U.S. Sun’s editorial standards.
