Position Summary: The Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a research‑focused Postdoctoral Fellow. The successful candidate will conduct research in Dr. Islam’s laboratory on cornea regeneration, focusing on cellular therapies using rabbit cornea animal models. The role requires publishing in leading journals, presenting at conferences, leading group projects, and collaborating with graduate and undergraduate students. Responsibilities

Conduct experiments on rabbit cornea models and related cellular therapies. Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences. Lead and mentor research projects and collaborate with students. Maintain rigorous laboratory practices and documentation. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Biological, Biomedical Sciences, Ophthalmology, or closely related field. Eligibility to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with rabbit model for ophthalmic research. Strong record of peer‑reviewed publications and laboratory experience. Commitment to cultivating an understanding of New Mexico’s culture and the university’s mission.
