Senior Graphic Designer – BYU Brand & Creative The Senior Designer at BYU Brand & Creative provides expert graphic design, account management, and production management for a wide range of university communications across print and digital formats. These projects represent Brigham Young University and its mission to hundreds of thousands—if not millions—of individuals worldwide, influencing the university’s reputation among students, alumni, and Church members. The Senior Designer ensures high‑quality, creative communications that reflect the university’s commitment to combining study and faith and developing disciples of Jesus Christ who seek to serve others. This role requires personal and professional dedication to that mission, demonstrated through design work, professional relationships, and personal conduct.

What You Will Be Doing In This Position Graphic Design Services

Consult with clients regarding strategies for print, digital, and other communication projects.

Provide expertise in concepting, content structure, usability, and user interface.

Develop creative visual concepts and designs aligned with client goals.

Commission and supervise photography, illustration, and other artwork as necessary.

Personnel decisions for student employees.

Make assignments to student designers and photographers and review their work.

Collaborate with production partners (printers, developers, etc.) to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.

Evaluate project outcomes and implement improvements for future work.

Account Management

Meet with clients to identify needs and offer professional consultation.

Manage major accounts with campaigns or complex, multi‑component projects.

Assist with production management by determining specifications, monitoring schedules, and overseeing deadlines and budgets.

Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Maintain regular communication with clients to build strong relationships and deliver excellent service.

Establish and maintain strong rapport as the account executive.

Department & University Support

Provide design support to other department designers.

Contribute to major design initiatives, identity development, and large‑scale projects.

Offer design expertise to university committees as needed.

Design Expertise & Professional Development

Stay current on trends in graphic design and digital communications.

Attend seminars, conferences, and industry trainings; read professional publications.

Develop new skills and learn emerging technologies.

Share design expertise with colleagues across design, editing, and development teams.

Required

A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field.

Five years of professional graphic design experience OR nine years of professional graphic design experience OR an equivalent combination of study and experience.

Preferred

Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design or related field.

Seven years of professional graphic design experience OR more than 10 years of professional graphic design experience.

Pay Grade: 54

Typical Starting Pay: $82,000 - $106,000
