Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and technical Associate Sweater Designe r to join our NYC design team. You'll support the full design and development process for knitwear and sweater collections- from concept through final production. The ideal candidate brings an understanding of yarns, stitches, gauges, and garment construction , thrives in a fast-paced environment, and collaborates effectively across functions to deliver commercially viable product.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in developing seasonal concept decks, mood boards, yearn/stitch stories, and silhouette direction for knitwear and sweaters
  • Translate design inspiration into CAD flats, stitch layouts, tech packs and line sheets using Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop
  • Research and select yarns, gauges, stitch techniques, trims and fabrications details appropriate for knitwear product categories
  • Participate in fittings with Technical Design to refine fit, construction, proportion and ensure garment quality meets brand standards
  • Collaborate with production and overseas factories on sourcing, costing and timelines
  • Maintain physical and digital archives of yarn swatches, stitch libraries, seasonal references and design documentation
  • Ensure deliverables (protos, samples, market submissions) adhere to the design calendar

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design
  • 3-5 years of professional design experience in knitwear and/or sweater design (women's or contemporary market preferred)
  • Good working knowledge of yarns, knitting techniques (e.g., tension, intarsia, cable, jacquard, full-fashion), gauges and knit construction
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; solid Excel skills
  • Experience creating detailed tech packs, CAD's and line sheets with accuracyt
  • Strong organizational multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize in a deadline-driven design environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate across design, technical, sourcing and merchandising teams
  • Knowledge of Simparel or PLM systems and overseas development processes is a plus
