The Department of Communication invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Communication, specializing in news broadcast production and broadcast journalism. This tenure‑track position includes a 3:4 or 4:3 teaching load and 9 months of full‑time service. Candidates will teach undergraduate media production courses and must demonstrate competencies in broadcast journalism, broadcast news studio production, multimedia news production, and contemporary media business models. A strong research agenda aligned with the program is required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver quality teaching of undergraduate courses in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Conduct scholarship or creative production that informs the instructional focus.
  • Provide service to the department, student media, and curriculum development.
  • Maintain and support the department’s ACEJMC accreditation.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Mass Communication or a related field (ABDs considered).
  • 3–5 years of industry experience in broadcast journalism and/or news production.
  • Evidence of quality prior teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • Philosophical commitment to digital, technological, and disciplinary integration.
  • Understanding and/or experience with ACEJMC accreditation.

Start date: August 1, 2026.
