About the role: PMAT is seeking a skilled Technical Writer to join our team supporting the Naval Operational Architecture under the "Naval Operational Architecture" or NOA contract. The ideal candidate will have expertise in technical writing and communications within the Navy and/or Department of Defense (DoD). This individual will be responsible for developing, editing, and delivering a wide range of technical documentation, reports, and communications.
Responsibilities:
Technical Documentation Development: Research complex technical subject matter, organize information from multiple sources, and produce high-quality, comprehensible technical documents tailored to diverse audiences (end user training and engineering development). Document Refinement: Draft, expand, refine, and edit architecture documents, technical concepts, and solutions into comprehensive, compliant, and compelling formats. Proposal and White Paper Creation: Produce compelling white papers, technical briefs, and other documentation to support customer engagements and contract objectives. Content Development Coordination: Collaborate with customers, technical teams, and management to ensure accurate and effective content development. Compliance Assurance: Ensure all documents adhere to applicable government style guides and established standards. Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in technical writing, preferably in Navy or DoD environments. Proven ability to create comprehensive and clear technical documentation tailored to diverse audiences. Experience developing reports, white papers, and architecture documentation. Familiarity with government regulations and compliance standards. Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate effectively, serving as a key spokesperson for technical documentation in support of initiatives. Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project. Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to ensure accuracy and clarity in all written materials. Organization: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently. Familiarity with Military Standards: Knowledge of Navy or DoD-specific documentation standards and style guides is preferred. Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field is preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
Location:
San Diego, onsite with flexible schedule. Travel 30% for customer coordination required.
Clearance Required:
US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI Clearance
Work Environment:
Customer site or PMAT offices as needed. Work in a government facility will be required. Travel at least 30% will be required for customer engagement, team coordination, and potentially for business development. Remote work may be acceptable depending on location and access to a PMAT office.
