The St. Charles Public Library is an energetic community hub committed to providing accessible resources, fostering a love for reading, and promoting lifelong learning. Weare committed to providing exceptional service to our community, and we are seeking a dedicated Youth Services Librarian to help us continue enriching the lives of children. This position is a full-time, salaried/exempt position. The schedule is 37.5 hours a week, in person, with evening and weekend availability.This individual reports to our Youth Services Manager.The Library would like this person to start in role the week of January 5, 2026. As the Youth Services Librarian, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of readers and thinkers. From hosting engaging story times to leading innovative programming and assisting young patrons in discovering their next favorite book, you’ll be at the forefront of nurturing a lifelong love of learning. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides reference, reader advisory, and other library services; assists patrons using library resources regardless of format. Instructs patrons in the use of library resources; prepares responses and communicates information to patrons, recommends appropriate materials in accordance with age, requests or interests. Teaches digital literacy skills to children, students, caregivers and educators through daily transactions or age-specific programming using library technology. Plans, prepares, conducts and collaborates with other staff to provide programs for children, students and caregivers; collaborates with other groups involved in similar efforts in the community. Serves schools and community organizations through story time, book talks, workshops for parents, and other related outreach activities and events. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree from an accredited library school; AND one (1) years of experience in library youth services functions SALARY: $45,903 minimum - $61,204 midpoint - $76,505 maximum; offers are generally made within the minimum to the midpoint range, depending on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
