Overview
Installs, operates, maintains and repairs communications systems and other electronic equipment.
Essential Functions
Installs, operates, maintains and repairs communications systems and other electronic equipment.
Under General Supervision
Maintains records of work performed and track inventory used.
Trains Radio Technician Apprentices.
Operates a variety of test equipment to install, remove, and repair communication and emergency equipment.
Develops and maintains a computer based radio programming workstation for portable and mobile radios.
Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs malfunctions in complex radio and communications systems, digital control systems and other electronic equipment used by Metro agencies.
Studies and develops new methods for installing safety equipment in various Metro agency vehicles.
Uses schematics and technical data to ensure proper installation and operation of emergency equipment.
Installs, removes, and repairs communication and emergency equipment for various Metro agencies.
Performs related work.
Associate's degree in electronics or related field.
One year of experience working in the wireless communications or electronics field, preferably in a two-way service shop environment involving repair and installation.
Qualifications
Associate's degree in electronics or related field.
One year of experience in the wireless communications or electronics field.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work.
Other Minimums
Must be of good moral character, with no criminal or felony record inconsistent with the provisions of this paragraph.
Applicants who have bought or sold marijuana within one year of application, or who have bought or sold any controlled substance or narcotic drug without a prescription within six years of application will be disqualified.
Misdemeanor convictions will be considered on an individual basis. An applicant may be disqualified for multiple misdemeanors, an unacceptable criminal record, or multiple traffic violations.
Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
