The Role / Position Overview
FundFire, part of the Financial Times, is recruiting a talented, motivated journalist to take on our endowments, foundations and investment consultants beat.
In this role, you’ll get to follow the money and report on how large and influential institutional investors are putting their assets to work. You’ll cover how university endowments navigate a fraught environment, face competing demands from the Trump administration and activists seeking divestment agendas. You’ll write about trends around how charitable foundations invest their pools of assets, and how institutional consultants shape the investment decisions of the biggest institutional investors.
We are looking for a reporter who can develop sources within these institutions, as well as the investment consultants and asset managers who influence them. The ideal candidate has strong journalism fundamentals and is motivated to find scoops as well as producing analytical pieces that break down trends in the sector.
FundFire’s 100,000‑strong readership includes top executives from the U.S. asset management industry as well as wealth managers, decision‑makers at institutional investors, and a wide range of other related industry players.

Key Responsibilities
Report and write at least three stories per week for our daily newsletter
Develop a network of sources to generate scoops and story ideas
Contribute to all storytelling formats, including videos, features, webcasts, and, where appropriate, graphics and other visualizations
Attend industry events and meet with sources to stay on top of the latest industry trends (including virtual events)
Required Skills / Experience
Experience covering a newsroom beat, preferably on a daily deadline
Strong ability to generate and pitch ideas
Demonstrated ability to develop sources
A track record of working successfully as part of a team
Attention to detail and ability to produce well‑written, accurate content
Strong journalistic ethics and knowledge of news‑writing fundamentals
Prior experience covering finance is not required

Further information
A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $71,000–$80,000 . The successful candidate will be offered a salary within this range based on skills, experience, training, certifications and other business considerations.
