Technical Writer Oil & Gas

Overview

Seeking an experienced Technical Writer with strong Oil & Gas domain knowledge, including familiarity with industrial systems, P&IDs, control systems, instrumentation, and mechanical/electrical equipment. Must have excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update O&M manuals, SOPs, training materials, troubleshooting guides, commissioning plans, and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, operators, and SMEs to gather and organize technical information.
• Convert engineering drawings, P&IDs, control logic, and vendor data into clear, user-friendly documentation.
• Edit and proofread for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
• Integrate visuals such as diagrams and illustrations.
• Manage documentation lifecycle and version control in CMS/DMS.
• Support development of training materials and e-learning content.

Requirements

• 5+ years of technical writing experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Engineering, or related field.
• Ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear documentation.
• Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe tools; Visio, AutoCAD, or CMMS experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
