Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice. This pool supports teaching for the Agricultural Education and Communication Department at Cal Poly for Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarters during the 2025-26 academic year, contingent on funding.
Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in agricultural communication as assigned.
Advise students and assist in co-curricular activities.
Support activities of the Brock Center for Agriculture.
Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or a closely related discipline; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate information to diverse audiences; interest in teaching and service activities.
Preferred: Experience working with diverse populations; ability to foster a collaborative, inclusive environment; relevant work experience and professional capabilities.
Special Conditions Following a conditional offer, a background check (including criminal records) must be completed satisfactorily before start.
Cal Poly will not sponsor an H-1B visa for this position.

About the Department The Agricultural Education and Communication Department at Cal Poly has ~260 undergraduate students, ~155 Master’s candidates, and eight full-time faculty. The Brock Center for Agricultural Communication is housed within the department and supports student writing, social media, and verbal communication development.
