Overview
This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 92 Force Support Squadron, Base Library, Fairchild AFB, WA. The primary purpose of this position is to provide general office support and assist management in all circulation service operation of library services. This is a Regular Full time position; guaranteed 35 hours per week may work up to 40 hours depending on the needs of the facility.
Responsibilities
Responsible for all circulation service operations.
Assist in the training of new library aides and technicians on circulation tasks.
Independently perform circulation and registration duties by implementing established procedures for circulation functions.
Maintain automated and/or manual circulation files including all charged-out materials, user database files, registration files, reserves, document delivery, interlibrary loans, lost items, and overdue items.
Implement established procedures for overdue materials and arrange replacements for lost or damaged items following relevant AFIs and local guidance.
Maintain reserve and interlibrary loan services and perform follow-up to ensure all requests are accurately fulfilled.
Maintain and compile library statistics on circulation, attendance, reference questions, and other required data.
Provide ready reference services to library customers by locating required information using standard library reference tools; pass more difficult requests to appropriate staff.
Explain the library classification scheme, general management of library resources, and library rules, regulations, and entitlements to library users.
Assist library users with library equipment and support the supervisory librarian in developing and implementing programs and marketing/publicity of library services and events, including preparing displays.
Recommend titles for possible inclusion in the collection.
Utilize the Integrated Library System (ILS), online databases, and other Internet resources to prepare subject bibliographies.
Perform routine clerical tasks and handle library mail; use varied software to prepare, format, modify, edit, email and print letters, reports, memos, and other documents.
Assist with the technical services process as needed and conduct tours and group orientations.
Refer difficult questions/problems concerning work processes to the appropriate staff member and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
This position has a physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
