ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direct supervision of an experienced Landscape Architect, our Landscape Designer I employees will be expected to learn the NSPJ standards to execute design tasks. Through the NSPJ Spark program, Landscape Designer Is will be given training and mentorship opportunities throughout the year. We highly encourage each employee to be an active participant in their own growth and career development. As part of a project team, they will report to a Project Lead, Project Manager or a Principal Landscape Architect. Our Landscape Designer I staff are expected to utilize their qualifications and advanced knowledge when exercising discretion and judgment in the performance of the following primary duties:
Develop site plans, landscape plans, site details, elevations, and sections, to successful completion under direct guidance:
AutoCAD drafting
SketchUp/Revit modeling
Preparing 3D visualization, renderings and presentation materials
Interpret and implement all redlines thoroughly (models, drawings, documents)
Interpret and document designs and technical solutions
Provide additional support for project progress as needed:
Delivery of city forms, material gathering / material sample boards, scanning documents, transmittals, taking meeting notes, printing/collating drawing sets, etc.
As-Built measuring and photos on the jobsite
ESSENTIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Full-time schedule including daily, in-person attendance
Essential for the effective performance in this role and the successful operation of the firm’s business, must be able to communicate (verbal and written) effectively and constructively in English with NSPJ employees, consultants, and clients to convey and understand details relating to projects and other business-related items.
Collaborate with others and work cooperatively and effectively in a team environment
Knowledge and daily use of computers and the computer programs mentioned above
Able to work at a desk throughout the workday; adjustable (sit or stand) desks are standard
Must be able to see, interpret, and analyze data in color on computer screens/programs and paper
Performs effectively under conditions of occasional high stress and pressure
Must possess/own a smartphone in order to complete two-factor authentication required for some websites, programs

QUALIFICATIONS
Entry level landscape architecture graduate with a professional degree in Landscape Architecture, or a closely related field. Accredited LAAB program preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
Previous work experience required; previous professional internship or job in Landscape Architecture strongly preferred
Can work efficiently with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office; Revit experience a plus
Demonstrates working knowledge of drafting fundamentals, dimensioning practices, 3D visualization and the fundamentals of design and documentation
