Basic Function
An Office Images’ General Services Administration (GSA) focused designer supports federal government projects from concept thru installation, ensuring accurate design intent and specifications, compliance with GSA technical and contractual requirements, and a seamless customer experience. Designers work closely with Sales members to assess customer needs and recommend solutions that will help customers achieve their business goals.
Responsibilities Project Design & Planning
Develop space plans, layouts, and contract furniture solutions that meet client needs and GSA standards.
Prepare detailed floor plans, installation drawings, specifications, and finish palettes using industry-standard design software (e.g., CET, AutoCAD).
Translate GSA product offerings and capabilities into functional, compliant design solutions.
Technical & Specification Management
Build accurate and complete product specifications for GSA contracts, including pricing validation, bill of materials, and compliance documentation.
Review and interpret furniture contract language, technical manuals, and performance criteria.
Work with product lines that operate under GSA Schedules or other federal purchasing programs.
Procurement & Compliance
Understand and apply GSA purchasing vehicles, including Schedule contracts, BPA (Blanket Purchase Agreements), IDIQ contracts, or other agency procurement methods.
Support accurate and compliant proposals, quotes, and bid responses.
Verify that pricing, product classification, and contract terms align with GSA rules and 3rd-party audit expectations.
Client & Team Collaboration
Partner with internal sales, project management, procurement, and installation teams to ensure aligned project execution.
Participate in client meetings, presentations, site walks, and technical reviews as needed.
Serve as a subject-matter resource on federal design standards, procurement requirements, and GSA best practices.
Project Delivery
Oversee design documentation from early concept through installation.
Support punch lists, installation drawings, and project closeout documentation.
Ensure proper archiving and recordkeeping in accordance with government project requirements.
Requirements
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design.
3+ years commercial furniture dealership experience working directly with GSA or Federal Government projects.
Proficiency in CET Designer and/or AutoCAD required.
Strong understanding of GSA product specification requirements, purchasing contracts, and procurement documentation requirements.
Knowledge of space planning and furniture layouts.
Experience with Project Matrix/Project Spec or other similar specification tool.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong sense of initiative, determination, and accountability to meet deadlines.
Enjoys working in a team environment.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Detail oriented.
Familiar with industry trends.
