About the Location Collaborative Work Environment

At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). About the Job Summary: This role is responsible for leading and executing PetSmart Charities’ creative strategies, ensuring that marketing objectives are met with visually compelling and brand‑consistent assets. This position requires overseeing the design and asset management process for both digital and print materials, supporting high‑level marketing campaigns, and enhancing the brand’s visual identity. A successful candidate will be a self‑driven, creative, and detail‑oriented professional who can balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution, collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, and manage creative assets effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Creative Strategy and Design Execution

Lead the development and execution of high‑impact visual assets for marketing campaigns across digital, print, and social media channels.

Collaborate with marketing to turn campaign objectives into visually engaging designs that resonate with the intended audience.

Prepare files for print or digital production.

Campaign and Brand Development

Oversee the visual aspects of all internal and external communications, including brand messaging, layout design, and aesthetic continuity across all materials.

Develop initial creative concepts for campaigns and ensure cohesive execution across multiple formats (digital, email, print, social media, etc.).

Brand Stewardship

Ensure all visual communications align with brand guidelines and support the brand’s strategic objectives.

Update and enforce brand standards to maintain consistency in color, typography, imagery, and tone across all platforms.

Regularly review, refine and develop brand assets, such as logo lock‑ups and digital icons to keep the brand image fresh and aligned with market trends.

Lead the asset management process, including the receiving, organizing, editing, tagging, uploading, and distribution of photos, graphics, and finalized assets.

Ensure that all assets are accessible, well‑organized, and meet usage standards in digital asset management and content distribution system, Photo Shelter.

Cross‑Departmental Collaboration

Build and maintain strong working relationships with business partners and stakeholders to ensure collaborative support of initiatives and alignment with brand strategy.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve creative processes and workflows to optimize efficiency and productivity. Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and technologies to enhance design capabilities and the organization’s creative strategy.

Supervisory Responsibilities

While this role does not have direct reports, designer will be expected to guide freelance creatives as needed, providing feedback to elevate the quality and consistency of the creative output.

Requirements

Well versed in industry‑standard creative applications: Figma, XD, Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office applications. Animation skills is a plus.

Technical knowledge of file preparation and procedures across different print and digital applications.

Understanding and application of the principles and elements of design.

Design sensibility for type, color and page layout and visual problem‑solving ability.

Ability to communicate in a professional environment.

Can present work to project leads and is receptive and open to input and feedback.

Motivated, flexible, detail‑oriented, with effective organizational skills.

Education/Experience

5+ years of experience in an in‑house creative department.

Design Portfolio.
