Music Industry Instructor (Open Pool 2025)

Location:

Fort Collins, CO – fully in‑office/in‑person

Salary:

$46,000–$48,000 for a 9‑month base salary (prorated for part‑time)

The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance (SMTD) at Colorado State University invites candidates to join a vibrant community of educators and practitioners. SMTD has a diverse faculty and a growing student body of over 550 students, offering residential and online music degree programs.

Position Summary SMTD may hire full‑time or part‑time, temporary Music Instructors to teach music‑industry courses within the music division, and to coordinate special programs and develop curricula. Applicants are added to the pool throughout the calendar year; hiring decisions are made in the late spring/early summer for the fall semester, early fall for spring, and spring for summer term.

Responsibilities

Teach music‑industry courses at the college level.

Coordinate special programs and develop curricula.

Collaborate with faculty and staff on program development.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Industry, Music Business, or a related field.

Five years of significant professional experience in the music industry (e.g., songwriting, publishing, copyright law, production, audio engineering, digital media, popular music history).

Demonstrated ability to design and deliver engaging instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced industry experience.

Documented teaching experience at the college or university level.

Master’s degree in a related field.
