Responsibilities
Polysomnographic Trainee: Under supervision of a Polysomnographic Technologist, perform Sleep Study Procedures or Neurological Testing for all patient populations. Understand testing equipment and procedures, monitor and document in the medical record per facility guidelines. Work with all age groups and those with growth and development needs. Perform other department specific duties as required.
Polysomnographic Technician: Provide sleep care services to perform PSG, MSLT, MWT, and Unattended Sleep Studies. Maintain necessary technical skills and medical knowledge to render quality patient care. Work under supervision until registered in polysomnography; perform duties independently as authorized.
Polysomnographic Technologist: Independently perform PSG, MSLT, MWT, and Unattended Sleep Studies following protocols. Maintain ongoing professional responsibilities to provide high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
Minimum Required: High school diploma or GED plus six months of direct patient care experience or one year of postsecondary education; or current enrollment in an accredited program leading to an associate degree with emphasis in sleep technology

Education (Polysomnographic Technician)
Graduate of or currently enrolled in a CAAHEP-accredited polysomnographic technology program OR graduate/enrolled in a CAAHEP-accredited electroneurodiagnostic or respiratory care program with a polysomnographic add-on
Eligible for BRPT RPSGT Exam eligibility (see BRPT eligibility)
Preferred: Associate degree with emphasis in polysomnography, respiratory care, or electroneurodiagnostic technology
Experience
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: Previous polysomnographic technician experience or two years as an RRT, CRT, END, or Polysomnographic Technologist
Certifications/Licenses
Minimum Required: BLS by the American Heart Association
Preferred/Optional: BRPT RPSGT certification encouraged
Schedule 24 hours/week; day shift
