Position: Grant Writer / Fundraising Partner (Pro Bono)
Location : Remote (potential NYC-based collaboration)

About Mentor A Promise (MAP) Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, academic enrichment, literacy development, housing initiatives, and creative expression, MAP creates safe, consistent, and empowering spaces where young people can thrive.
Role Overview The Grant Writer / Fundraising Partner will research, identify, and pursue funding opportunities from government agencies, private foundations, and corporate partners. The role includes writing competitive grant proposals, developing donor materials, and assisting with early fundraising strategies to build equitable, community‑centered housing aligned with MAP’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Research and identify funding opportunities (government, foundation, and private)
Draft and support the submission of competitive grant proposals and applications
Develop and maintain a simple grants calendar to track deadlines and opportunities
Assist in creating donor outreach materials and light fundraising campaigns
Collaborate with leadership to align proposals with MAP’s mission, housing vision, and program goals
Track deadlines, maintain organized records, and report on progress
Ideal Candidate
2–3 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit development
Strong writing, research, and persuasive communication skills
Familiarity with housing, community development, or social justice initiatives a plus
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and self‑directed
Collaborative and mission‑driven, with a passion for equity, housing, and community impact
