What you will do As a Fire Alarm Designer for JohnsonControlsyou will design fire alarm systems for commercial buildings. At times acting as a design lead on large complex and multifaceted projects andadvisingother members of the design team supporting these projects
How you will do it
Organizes and plans own workload and the workload of assigned CAD Support Technician(s). Maintains committed project dates and coordinates any changes.
Facilitates reviews of initialproject documents of simple to medium complexity to contribute engineered/code compliant solutions where required. Determine if the sold material is applicable and make changes as required.
Coordinates with CAD Support Technicians to prepare fully detailed technical submissions with complete detailed schematics and drawings to meet design criteria.
Examines completed submissions with CAD Technician for equipment application, equipment compatibility, and compliance with specifications and scope.
Completes detailed calculations to verify system design meets code and standard requirements.
Track project progress with design database including submittal dates, project notes and significant changes.
Participates in pre/post project design meeting and attends customer/site coordination meetings, as applicable.
Develops bill of materials and data sheet submittal documents to facilitate construction.
Provides support to Project Managers when orders are received to help maintain and/or improve project margins.
What we look for Required
High school degree or equivalent required.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in design of Fire Alarm systems.
Experienced with NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm Code) and ability to acquire appropriate licenses required by national, state and local codes.
Knowledge of Building Fire Alarm Systems design, operation, wiring and programming.
Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and their interface to Building Fire Alarm Systems.
A fundamental understanding of Microsoft Office Suite including, Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe required.
Proficient in reading and understanding architectural and electrical diagrams.
Effective written and oral communications.
Strong time management skills.
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, or Drafting (AutoCAD) preferred, Or equivalent field experience.
NICET certification.
Other electrical systems experience such as Vesda, Nurse Call, CCTV, Access Control
Preparation of project submissions for easy to medium complexity systemsincludingsystem operation, drawings, and calculations.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $78,200-97,700 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
