Position Overview: Studio KDA is seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Marketing Specialist to help shape and share our firm’s story. This role plays a key part in communicating our identity, values, and work to the public and prospective clients. Working closely with the Business Development Director and Studio Leaders, the Marketing Specialist will lead the preparation of proposals, manage the firm’s digital presence, coordinate project photography, and support overall marketing strategy.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a clear communicator who enjoys collaboration, has an eye for design and brings both creativity and precision to their work.

Studio KDA is an award-winning 25-person architecture and interior design firm based in Berkeley. Our work centers on projects that build and support community—including housing, restaurants, retail centers, and public spaces. The position is part time, with the opportunity to become full time. Our office is currently hybrid, with staff in our Berkeley office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the option to work remotely other days.

Key Responsibilities

Proposal & Business Development Support

  • Lead the preparation and coordination of proposals, brochures and other marketing materials
  • Write, edit, and format compelling content tailored to prospective clients and project types
  • Track project opportunities across various channels

Digital Marketing & Web Presence

  • Maintain and update the firm’s website with recent projects, news, and publications
  • Create and manage social media content and calendars (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Ensure consistent brand voice and visual identity across all digital platforms
  • Coordinate professional photography of completed projects
  • Maintain up-to-date marketing collateral, staff bios, and project descriptions
  • Organize and maintain the firm’s image library and marketing collateral
  • Assist in preparing submissions for awards, press features, and speaking engagements

Internal Coordination & Support

  • Work closely with the firm leadership to align marketing initiatives and reporting with the firm’s goals and voice
  • Support internal presentations and marketing efforts for events, exhibitions, and publications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Architecture, Design, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, preferably in architecture, design, or related industries
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual communication skills
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and MS Office
  • Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress preferred)
  • Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • A collaborative spirit and a proactive, self-starting attitude

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating architectural proposals or working in a design-focused environment
  • Knowledge of CRM or marketing automation platforms
  • Interest in architecture, design, and the built environment
  • Competitive salary, $75,000 - $125,000 based on FT
