We are seeking a Lead Proposal Writer with significant experience in U.S. Government, FEDSIM, and commercial proposal writing. This role is part of the Strategy & Business Development's Capture Operations & Excellence Group, which supports Leidos' most strategic bids. You will collaborate with Capture Executives, Solution Architects, and other key leaders to create compelling and compliant proposals that secure winning bids.

The position requires onsite presence during live proposals at our headquarters in Reston, VA.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Solution Architects and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create clear documentation and articulate innovative solutions aligned with proposal requirements that demonstrate why Leidos is the best choice.
  • Lead the writing and development of responses across various proposal sections including technical, management, corporate experience, staffing rationale, resumes, and transitions.
  • Work within a supportive team to effectively convey the overall strategy, approach, experience, win themes, and key differentiators.
  • Utilize strong communication and interviewing skills to collect essential information from internal teams and external personnel to enhance proposal quality.
  • Produce well-written, compelling, persuasive proposal sections, simplifying complex ideas into accessible text.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance proposal quality and effectiveness.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of professional experience or 10 years with a master's degree. Additional years of experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years dedicated to proposal writing for Federal Government solicitations valued at $100M+.
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality, successful proposals.
  • Experience in writing and leading technical, management, transition, staffing, and corporate experience volumes for complex projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • U.S. citizenship is a requirement due to the nature of the responsibilities.
  • Availability for on-site work during live proposal efforts.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Federal Government proposals, including those managed through FEDSIM.
  • Familiarity with traditional video, live oral presentations, and demonstration proposals.
  • Experience using Generative AI tools to assist in crafting effective and compliant proposals.
  • Active Secret or Top-Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
