Health Communications Specialist IV

to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS). This person will review, analyze and evaluate written material, statistical data and a variety of other information. The

Health Communications Specialist IV

will use qualitative and quantitative methods to assess progress toward program goals.

Responsibilities

Provide project management support for DLS communications projects.

Create and manage documents that define projects, tasks, products, and other communicationefforts, including:

Stating the deliverables.

Identifying the staffing matrix, the clearance matrix, and the timeline, includingmilestones and completion.

Track projects from initiation to completion using online systems.

Ensure projects are following timelines.

Adjust timelines in response to events affecting the production of deliverables.

Analyze data about individual projects and the collective effort of the organizational unit usingonline systems and interpersonal communication.

Create holistic reports about activities across the organizational unit using online systems andinterpersonal communication.

Advise on balancing resources and adjusting timelines using online systems and interpersonalcommunication.

Assist with forecasting efforts that identify future projects using tools like a calendar, document,spreadsheet, or other online resources.

Collect and report data that can inform process improvement and evaluation activities.

Assist in ensuring staff members are aware of and follow policies that inform or guide projects.

Lead or contribute to the development and management of standard operating procedures thatguide how projects, tasks, and products are delivered.

Provide health communication, education, writing/editing support for DLS.

Develop, implement, and manage communication and marketing programs, projects, andinitiatives for various audiences, including communication plans, collateral materials.

Work with subject matter experts to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate communication andeducational materials intended to reach internal/external partners, healthcare providers, and theclinical and public health laboratory audiences.

Guide the development, testing, and dissemination of communication information and audiencebasedproducts, tools, and messages (i.e., via written, electronic, and audiovisual formats).

DLS internet, intranet, and SharePoint sites.

CDC social media channels.

Other communication channels such as GovDelivery, CDC-INFO, etc.

Coordinate with DLS and CDC SMEs on health media production (e.g., graphics, broadcast production); riskcommunication activities; marketing campaigns and activities; publications; electronic healthcommunication and marketing activities (e.g., web, podcasts); and partnerships and strategic alliances.

Provide technical assistance for DLS marketing and promotion.

Develop, implement, and evaluate communication plans. Provide consultation and technicalassistance to internal and external groups concerning health communication and marketingprograms, projects, and strategies.

Communication materials such as fact sheets, flyers, brochures, stories/vignettes.

External and internal communication such as newsletters, videos/audio recordings.

Exhibiting materials and support including exhibiting and ordering materials.

Media materials and support, including developing talking points, prepping SMEs forinterviews.

Provide support for internal and external DLS partnership activities including coordination of meetings,development of materials, etc.

Facilitate ongoing internal and external partnership involvement to plan, implement, and evaluatecommunication and marketing campaigns and activities.

Collaborate with other key partners throughout the agency to ensure that the divisions' resourcesare incorporated, used, and promoted by other groups.

Work with DLS subject matter experts to compile metrics from training resources and outreach efforts,identify opportunities to improve outreach efforts.

Qualifications

Four (4) to Six (6) or more years of relevant, direct comparable or similar work experience. Completed Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience to substitute.

Professional working knowledge of data visualization dashboards on PowerBI, Tableau, and Nextstrain in H.

Engage with team members and other data producers and consumers, including public sequence data repositories and collaborators around the world, for outbreak surveillance.

Skills in managing and prioritizing multiple assignments with strict deadlines and ability to coordinate efforts among many offices.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).

Expertise to prepare and present information/data via oral briefing(s) and/or by written reports.

Estimated Salary/Wage

USD $100,000.00/Yr. Up to USD $125,000.00/Yr.
