Pay Grade : 203
Pay Range : $18.11 – $21.74 per hour
Department Mission
The Music & Creative Arts Department exists to advocate, inspire, equip, & disciple worshippers and creative-minded people through diverse artistic expressions. It also develops music and arts leaders.
Job Summary
Work with children and adults in the Corps and community to plan and implement music and creative arts programs that may include teaching theory, performance, and creative arts performance based on the needs of the Corps and the placement of the instructor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Educate and train future leaders in Music and Creative Arts ministry in The Salvation Army.
Teach and spread the Gospel to young people of NCI through music and creative arts.
Begin each class period with a prayer and a scripture verse.
Work within the schools and/or Corps to lead or assist in music or other arts programs as assigned. Implement the lesson plans and curriculum provided by the corps music director, lead music teacher, LTMB Manager, or DMCA.
Help plan the LTMB recitals at the corps and prepare the corps music program to participate in the LTMB concert at the end of each school year.
Encourage participants to work toward a goal and a sense of accomplishment in developing musical abilities.
Encourage participants to discover and develop skills and talents that will heighten their self-esteem, increase school/program pride, and involve them in positive activities.
Assist with ensuring music performances and activities heighten awareness of the purpose of the Corps in the community.
Encourage participants to attend summer camps which will develop further talents and help make spiritual decisions.
Be willing to gain knowledge of the Salvation Army music and programs.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional communication practices.
Maintain compliance with The Salvation Army’s “Safe from Harm” Certification.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Relationships
This position reports to the LTMB Manager and/or DMCA. In contacts related to this position’s duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.
Performance Measures
This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, timeliness and accuracy of accomplishing assigned goals will be reviewed, and an evaluation of how effectively service is provided.
Education / Experience
Minimum of 2 years of music experience working with children/adults.
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or working toward a degree in music, or extensive experience teaching music.
Proficiency in music theory and in a primary instrument.
Performance experience preferred.
Valid Driver’s license/MVR clearance.

Position Limitations
Individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
All Salvation Army owned equipment used will be returned at the end of employment before the final check is issued.
Individual will keep the Director of Music & Creative Arts, Let The Music Begin Manager and Corps Officer informed on all critical issues related to their area of responsibility.
Individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out responsibilities of this position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
Position requires light physical work.
Employee regularly required to use instruments and equipment needed in a music program.
Frequent use of standard office equipment and a PC required.
Work environment includes a program environment with a moderate to high noise level.
Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
