We are in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet. About The Team And The Role An eBay subsidiary, TCGplayer, is on a quest to be the most trusted trading card game (TCG) platform – connecting and empowering the hobby community. Trading card games represent a $25B global market that creates community connection through in‑person play (Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu‑Gi‑Oh, etc.). Founded by and for TCG enthusiasts, we operate a global marketplace and create tools, technologies, and solutions that help small businesses sell TCGs at scale simply and profitably. As Principal User Experience Designer, you will use your past experience and success to act as a design leader with a vision for one of TCGplayer’s critical product portfolios: our next‑generation products and services for domestic and international fulfillment. In this senior role, you will partner with cross‑departmental peers to design and deliver customer‑centered solutions for hobbyists, sellers, and our internal operations teams. You will own the UX Design roadmap for every aspect of TCGplayer’s fulfillment products and services, make final design decisions, and hold accountability for UX output in this critical area. Your actions will also inform our standards for design excellence, cross‑team collaboration, and the evolving vision for TCGplayer and the hobby community as a whole. What You Will Accomplish Customer value: Know our customers deeply; understand, document, and advocate for their needs, value propositions, and delightful journeys; prioritize competing customer needs; define experiential goals and behavioral success requirements; integrate these into a coherent, customer‑focused design vision and clearly communicate the "why". Business impact: Steward our business health; partner with business leaders to understand portfolio performance and strategy; adjust design proposals based on nuanced business dynamics and impacts. Execution and delivery: Foster cross‑team collaboration and proactive communication; work closely with product, technical, and business teammates to prototype, deliver, and evaluate designs; solve high‑stakes user experience problems alongside senior leadership; provide design strategy and solutions early and often throughout projects. What You Will Bring 8+ years of UX Design experience, including web, mobile, and service design leadership on shipping, logistics, or similar marketplace experiences; a portfolio of shipped work demonstrating a structured practice from strategy to launch and scaling with measurable customer impact. Demonstrated success integrating user experiences with internal systems, policies, and third‑party vendors in a fast‑growing online marketplace or B2B SaaS business. Steadfast focus on solving customer needs; experience deriving design solutions from qualitative and quantitative insights; motivation to interact directly with customers. Mastery of user experience design methodologies and tools such as Figma; proficiency in AI integrations; self‑directed skill development. Ability to establish standards and conventions for portfolio‑level design execution, including planning, dependency management, and delivery in an agile product development process; bias toward operational scalability and documentation. Experience conducting or applying agile user research, lean usability testing, and data‑driven design; hands‑on experience with tools such as Amplitude, Qualtrics, Google Analytics, Optimizely, or similar. Expert knowledge of aligning to business goals while supporting end‑user needs; prior design work demonstrating how solutions met customer needs within business constraints. Experience collaborating with engineers and operators to translate design vision into code and business solutions, ensuring technical feasibility and great user experience; excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences, from entry‑level team members to executive leaders. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a hobby, gaming, or collectibles community. Formal education or certifications in UX Design, HCI, or related fields. Experience with global expansion in a marketplace or platform business. Experience and knowledge of shipping, logistics, and fulfillment operations.
