TERM INSTRUCTOR - COMMUNICATION, GENERAL (COMG) POOL Del Mar College – Corporate Services Job Summary: The successful applicant will provide quality instruction to address current events, skills, knowledge, and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of students. Responsibilities: Teach courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Make continuous effort to advance the quality of instruction. Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes. Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials. Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the course syllabus guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of content goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule of work. Hold scheduled, posted virtual or physical office hours of at least one (1) hour daily and be available for and encourage conferences with students to discuss student work. Required Qualifications: Successful teaching experience is required. Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or related field AND five (5) years of teaching experience. Organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor. Knowledge and ability in the teaching discipline. Commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success. Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds. Ability to plan a course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to insure course content and objectives are met. Proficiency in utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other media. Employment Details: Faculty – Term position open to all applicants.
