Old Dominion University is hiring an Electronic Resources Metadata Librarian . The Electronic Resources Metadata Librarian oversees and performs cataloging and electronic resources management activities to ensure that all of the Libraries’ electronic resources are fully integrated into our inventory and easily findable and accessible to all users. Position will be responsible for activating and managing new and existing e-resources, managing regular workflows and quality control for e-resources, identifying and leading projects for e-resources cataloging and record cleanup, serving as a resource for staff for difficult e-resource questions, working with the Resource Discovery Librarian on user access issues, and working with Resource Fulfillment/Acquisitions on new and cancelled subscriptions for e-resources. Minimum Qualifications: Master of Library Science from an American Library Association-accredited institution or international equivalent
Demonstrated basic knowledge of current trends and issues in cataloging and metadata creation
Demonstrated basic knowledge of electronic resources management practices and strategies
Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a demanding and rapidly changing, service-oriented environment
Basic knowledge of electronic resources cataloging, authority control, and database maintenance practices
Basic knowledge of RDA, LC Classification, LCSH, and MARC 21 formats
Successful experience working in a team environment with both professional and support staff
Demonstrated basic experience working with OCLC and with cataloging and electronic resources management modules of an integrated library system
Demonstrated awareness of national trends and developments in cataloging and metadata, as well as general trends in electronic resources, discovery, and user behavior
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, communication, and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of at least one foreign language
Demonstrated record of professional development, service, and scholarly activity
Two or more years of relevant library technical services experience
Experience with original cataloging
Experience with batch editing and loading MARC records
Experience with Ex Libris integrated library system (Alma preferred)
Experience with Discovery tools (Primo preferred)
Project management experience
