Part‑Time‑Adult Library Assistant – Missouri City Fort Bend County, one of the fastest growing counties in the nation, invites applications for the Part‑Time Adult Library Assistant position at Missouri City. The role supports library staff, enhances patron experience, and contributes to a welcoming, inclusive workplace. Responsibilities Assist full‑time staff at reference desks, answering questions and referring complex inquiries. Help patrons use public computers to access the catalog, circulation accounts, and online databases. Provide assistance in other areas, including programming for children, circulation desk support, and other reference desks. Complete shelf‑reading duties to maintain organized stacks. Process books and AV materials, or other duties as assigned. Participate in reference training and continuing education programs. Stay familiar with databases, online resources, and reference‑book collections through regular study. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma and 48 college credit hours. Preferred experience working with children in group settings. Typing and keyboarding skills. Computer skills involving internet and database searching. Strong communication skills and ability to interact with staff and the public. Physical ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift library materials up to 25 pounds. Salary Part‑Time: $15.30 per hour, 24 hours per week. Employee Benefits All full‑time and part‑time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS).
