Description

The Music Circulation/Chamber Music Librarian is responsible for managing the chamber music catalogue and staffing the Bucksbaum Campus Library during operating hours. This position reports to the Head Librarian and is a member of the AMFS Performance Librarian team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare chamber music parts for artist-faculty and students.
  • Manage the circulation of chamber music parts and other items in the AMFS collection as necessary in consultation with the Head Librarian.
  • Continue maintenance to the AMFS collection, along with cataloguing new acquisitions.
  • Assist the Performance Librarians with distributing parts to musicians from the Bucksbaum Campus Library during operating hours.
  • Staff the library at the Bucksbaum Campus.
  • Work closely and effectively with guest artists, faculty members, students, and staff.
  • At the discretion of the Head Librarian, work with publishers to ensure music materials are ordered, complete, and fully prepared.
  • Dependent upon experience, the Chamber Music Librarian may be assigned a small performing ensemble in which case it would be required that they prepare those parts and attend all rehearsals, readings, and concerts for the assigned ensemble(s).
  • Other related duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years music library experience required.
  • Knowledge of classical music repertoire and the ability to read music required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines, while demonstrating patience, good judgement, and a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of computers (Microsoft products) and information technology. Experience with ArtsVision, ResourceMate, and Adobe suite is preferred but not required. Training will be provided as necessary.

June 2, 2026-August 25, 2026

Compensation

$18/hour plus housing provided by AMFS (valued at a minimum of $5.16/hour depending on location.) Overtime $27/hour

Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
