Description:

Sedulous is seeking a Technical Writer to provide on-site documentation, analysis, and acquisition support for the Product Manager Infantry Weapons (PdM IW) program at Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), Quantico, VA. This key personnel position provides direct support in the development, management, and quality control of technical documentation required across the program's acquisition lifecycle.

The Technical Writer will work alongside program managers, engineers, logisticians, and government stakeholders to draft, edit, update, track, and finalize authoritative documents in support of systems engineering, logistics, sustainment, testing, fielding, budgeting, and program execution.

Primary duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Develop, write, edit, and maintain a wide range of technical documentation, to include acquisition documents, technical manuals, SOPs, program management artifacts, briefings, reports, white papers, test documentation, and lifecycle sustainment materials.
  • Prepare and edit acquisition documentation in accordance with DoD, Marine Corps, and MCSC templates, guidance, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with government and contractor staff to gather technical content, verify accuracy, and ensure consistency across documentation.
  • Incorporate inputs from engineers, logisticians, testers, financial personnel, and program leadership into final documentation.
  • Maintain configuration control of all documentation by tracking version history, maintaining shared repositories, and ensuring proper formatting, classification markings, and compliance with DoD standards.
  • Assist with the preparation of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables and ensure all documentation meets quality, accuracy, and submission deadlines.
  • Draft and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), program instructions, workflow processes, and internal guides that support PdM IW operations.
  • Prepare graphics, charts, and tables to support briefings and reports.
  • Support coordination and planning for meetings, technical reviews, program reviews, and working groups by preparing agendas, minutes, read-aheads, and briefing materials.
  • Conduct quality reviews to ensure documents meet government formatting and editorial guidelines, including clarity, grammar, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Support the organization, storage, and retrieval of documents within government-approved repositories (SharePoint, MCEN environments, etc.).
  • Maintain awareness of ongoing program activities, schedule milestones, and deliverable timelines to ensure documentation reflects the most current programmatic state.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • HS, Associates, Bachelor's degree, <5-yrs. of technical writing/editing
  • Strong technical writing and editing abilities with demonstrated experience supporting DoD acquisition programs.
  • Experience preparing documentation in accordance with DoD and USMC formatting requirements.
  • Working knowledge of DoD classified document handling procedures.
  • Ability to work directly with senior-level government and contractor personnel.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word) with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with SharePoint or other document management systems preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is primarily sedentary work requiring the ability to perform tasks involving: reaching, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, standing, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.

Employees must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Work requires dependability, accuracy, strong judgment, and the ability to apply oral and written instructions. Must be able to make decisions that significantly impact the immediate work unit.
