Position Summary

Job Description:

Writing Center Consultants coach writers on their writing processes, works in progress, and develop a variety of strategies for supporting writers.

Their work includes continuous learning about best tutoring practices through scholarly reading, collaboration with faculty, tutoring supervisors, and fellow tutors.

They maintain a welcoming Writing Center environment and complete report forms for tutoring appointments.

Bilingual Consultants may also work with English Language Learners, facilitate language conversation groups, and serve as interpreters as needed.

Pay: $19.00 hourly. Campus: Valencia. Department: Valencia Branch. Employment Type: Student Employment. Status: Non‑Exempt.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, with enrollment in or completion of at least English 1110Z, 1110, or 1120 (grade B or higher).
  • Successful completion of English 1120 and/or Technical Writing, or experience writing in a non‑native language, teaching experience, or proficiency with cloud documents, spreadsheets, Zoom, or other relevant computer applications.
  • Other specialized experience or skills that could benefit tutoring of writing.
