Nexstar Media Inc. has an immediate opening for a News Producer who brings creativity and innovative thinking to the role. The Producer will be responsible for newscasts airing on the newly formed duopoly in the Washington, DC Market #8 DMA. The Producer will work with newsroom leadership, anchors, production team and field crews to create strong and well‑paced newscasts. Candidate must have a proven track record that demonstrates ownership and appropriate showcasing of big story coverage, breaking news and weather.

Responsibilities
- Produces newscasts for broadcast across all platforms.
- Writes, orders and approves news stories and scripts.
- Balances news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts.
- Edits video and writes stories for the website and other eMedia platforms.
- Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Minimum two years’ experience in news operations.
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work any shift.
Core Duties
- Reports news stories for broadcast, describing background and details of events.
- Arranges interviews with people who can provide information about stories.
- Reviews copy and corrects errors in content, grammar and punctuation.
- Researches background information related to news stories.
- Pitches stories to news managers and news producers relevant to the local community.
- Receives assignments and evaluates leads and tips to develop story ideas.
- Shoots and edits news events and news reports.
- Ensures all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
