Job Title: UX/UI Designer Location: Indianapolis, IN 46204 Employment Type: Contract (with possibility of extension) About The Role We are seeking an experienced UX/UI Designer with 12+ years of experience to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will lead the design of user‑centric digital products and interfaces, collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver outstanding user experiences. You will bring both strategic insight and hands‑on design execution to drive product success.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, and analysis to identify user needs, pain points and opportunities for improvement.

Develop information architecture, user journeys, personas, site maps, process flows and wireframes to illustrate design concepts.

Create high‑fidelity UI designs and interactive prototypes for web and mobile platforms, ensuring consistency with brand and design systems.

Collaborate with engineers and development teams to ensure designs are feasible and implemented accurately; communicate design rationale clearly.

Perform usability testing, collect feedback, iterate on designs and refine solutions to enhance usability, accessibility and engagement.

Advocate for best practices in user‑centered design, accessibility, and responsive design across devices.

Stay current on emerging design trends, tools, methods, and industry standards, and bring innovation to the design process.

Fit into a contract rhythm: deliver on time, manage priorities, and coordinate with other team members in a flexible/remote or hybrid environment as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum of 12 years of professional experience in UX and UI design (web, mobile or digital products).

Strong portfolio demonstrating visual design, interaction design, and UX process (from research through to high‑fidelity prototype).

Advanced proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, or equivalent.

Strong skills in wireframing, prototyping, user flows, information architecture, and visual design (layout, typography, colour, iconography).

Experience working with or understanding front‑end technologies (HTML, CSS, responsive design) is a plus— it helps collaboration with development teams.

Excellent communication skills: ability to articulate design decisions, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, take feedback and manage stakeholder expectations.

Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, agile environment, managing multiple tasks/priorities, and adapting to change.

Strong problem‑solving mindset and an ability to think from the user’s perspective ("what would this feel like to the end‑user?").

Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices is beneficial.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with design systems and component libraries.

Experience in user research methods (interviews, usability testing, analytics).

Experience with A/B testing or usability metrics to inform design decisions.

Experience working in a contract or consulting capacity, handling priorities independently.

Familiarity with stakeholder management and communicating with non‑design audiences (product, business, marketing).
