Job Overview We are looking for a Senior Staff Broadcast Network Engineer to join the IP Infrastructure Engineering team within a leading global media organization headquartered in New York. This position is responsible for architecting, deploying, and supporting advanced IP networks that power live broadcast operations and large‑scale media production environments.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience with media‑over‑IP standards, real‑time transport, and modern broadcast networking technologies, including SMPTE ST 2110, PTP synchronization, and software‑defined networking. This role will work closely with engineering, IT, and operations teams to provide highly reliable, low‑latency network solutions that support live video, audio, and data workflows across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and support IP‑based broadcast networks that handle uncompressed media and real‑time production workflows.
Partner with SDN and infrastructure teams to deliver deterministic, low‑latency network solutions for live content creation.
Assess and enhance existing network designs to improve scalability, performance, and timing stability.
Lead diagnostics and root‑cause analysis for complex network and media‑transport issues across multiple facilities.
Collaborate with internal teams and third‑party vendors to integrate new media networking and orchestration technologies.
Utilize automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Arista CloudVision for network operations.
Manage multicast routing, QoS policies, and capacity planning for high‑bandwidth, real‑time applications.
Ensure system reliability through proactive monitoring, fail‑over testing, and lifecycle management of firmware and hardware.
Produce clear and detailed documentation including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
Provide technical leadership, training, and mentorship to operations and engineering personnel.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience engineering and supporting mission‑critical IP networks at scale.
Strong background in broadcast/media transport over IP environments.
Hands‑on expertise with Arista platforms and modern data‑center architectures.
Deep understanding of multicast, QoS, PTP timing, and real‑time media synchronization.
Proficiency with network automation tools such as Ansible and scripting languages like Python.
Experience with spine‑leaf designs, SDN, and VXLAN/EVPN technologies.
Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, including experience with packet analysis tools such as Wireshark.
Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work in fast‑paced live production environments.
Demonstrated ability to mentor teammates and share technical best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Background working in broadcast, media, streaming, or live production environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Industry certifications (e.g., Arista ACE or similar).
