LHH Recruitment Solutions has an opening for a Senior Refrigeration Design Engineer for our client in the Orlando, FL area. This direct‑hire role allows you to expand your engineering career within a fast‑paced engineering and architectural firm in the commercial construction industry. The on‑site position requires a minimum of 5 years of current experience in commercial refrigeration design and a strong background in load calculations and CO2 trans‑critical systems in a commercial capacity.

Salary range: $120-140k annually.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate whole commercial refrigeration systems (primarily parallel compression “racks”) for condition, capacity, and efficiency.

Survey existing systems, maintain pertinent system architecture information, model numbers, condition, etc.

Perform refrigeration load calculations as needed.

Arrange loads on appropriate compressor suction groups as needed.

Calculate compressor & condenser capacity and select new equipment as required.

Understand alternate system types and be able to specify such as condensing units, distributed systems, secondary pumped systems.

Be willing and able to learn about new system types such as CO2 trans‑critical systems.

Generate refrigeration designs in compliance with all applicable local and state codes.

Generate refrigeration designs in compliance with owner specifications and design guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering.

Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial refrigeration design.

Current working knowledge of discipline‑specific codes and other building codes.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Good leadership skills to educate clients.

Meet with the project team to discuss schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review issues.

Review preliminary and final design with other disciplines for function, clearances and coordination.

Client contact.

Perform quality assurance on projects in coordination with the technical manager or project engineer.

Set high standards, professional integrity, and seek the interests of the company and client.

Ability to meet fast‑paced deadlines.

Must demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, situational leadership, servant leadership, and the creation of a vision for the department.

Proven management and leadership skills.

Proven knowledge of engineering calculations, layout, and design of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and structural/architectural systems.

Experience collaborating with mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, geotech, survey, etc. internally and externally.

Proven proficiency in using CAD programs – Revit, AutoCAD.
