Farther
Senior Product Designer - Design Systems Focus
Hybrid - New York City
Company Description Farther is a rapidly growing RIA that combines expert advisors with cutting‑edge technology - delivering a comprehensive, tailored wealth management experience.
Farther’s founders are leaders and innovators from the private wealth industry who possess a unique blend of traditional wealth management, fintech, and technology production expertise. We’re backed by top‑tier venture capital firms, fintech investors, and industry leaders.
Joining Farther means joining a collaborative team of entrepreneurs who are passionate about helping their clients and our teammates achieve more. If you’re the type who breaks through walls to get things done the right way, we want to build the future of wealth management with you.
The Role We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to own and scale Farther's design system. You'll take ownership of an emerging foundation and build it into a robust, scalable system that drives consistency, quality, and velocity across our platform.
This is a dedicated design systems role—you'll own the full lifecycle: refining and expanding the component library, establishing patterns and documentation, driving adoption across design and engineering, and ensuring the system evolves with our product needs. As priorities shift, you may also support product teams by consulting on component usage and ensuring design system principles are applied consistently across features.
We're looking for someone who's passionate about systems work AND comfortable operating on a team where collaboration across workstreams is valued.
Your Impact Design Systems Ownership
Own and evolve Farther's design system—refining foundations, building new components, and scaling for growth
Create reusable components, design tokens, and detailed usage documentation in Figma
Drive prioritization, roadmapping, and stakeholder communication
Define governance processes for adoption, enhancements, and deprecations
Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure design‑to‑code fidelity
Establish education and onboarding processes that drive real adoption across the team
Supporting Design Team Work
Provide guidance and support to designers across advisor tools, client platforms, and mobile, ensuring design system principles are applied consistently
Partner with PMs and engineering teams as needed to clarify component usage, patterns, and best practices during feature implementation
Apply systems thinking to help maintain consistency, accessibility, and quality across all product experiences
Collaborate with other designers to support seamless cross‑platform experiences, leveraging the design system as the single source of truth
The Ideal Match
5+ years of product design experience with 2‑3+ years in design systems
Strong Figma skills with ability to build and maintain scalable component architectures
Experience scaling or evolving an existing design system (not just building from scratch)
Self‑directed with strong prioritization and stakeholder management skills
Strong engineering collaboration—you understand how design translates to code
Excellent documentation and communication skills
Comfortable with shifting priorities and collaborating across workstreams
Bonus Points
Experience in fintech or regulated industries
Familiarity with Storybook or similar tools
Background in mobile design systems (iOS/Android)
Interest in AI tools and design automation
