Live Graphic Recording artists in our network represent The Sketch Effect all around the world, providing Graphic Recording services to the world’s biggest brands and most admired companies. This is an independent contractor position, ideal for somebody who does freelance work or has a flexible job.

A great Graphic Recorder at The Sketch Effect is:

How to Apply

We receive tons of applications, so our hiring process is extensive and selective, taking place in 3 main phases:

Phase 1. Complete a Graphic Recording assignment and fill out the form below

For your assignment, listen to this presentation by Neil DeGrasse Tyson and produce a Graphic Recording of the content.

Here are a few quick guidelines:

Sketch while you listen. Graphic Recording is almost always done live, so do not pause, rewind, or replay.

Spend about 75 minutes on your sketch (60 minutes of “live” sketching and 15 minutes of “polish”)

You may work traditionally (markers on paper, 11” x 17” or larger) or digitally (with an iPad or tablet, 16x9 ratio and 300dpi)

Produce a final JPEG image (or a photo of your sketch)

Once complete, fill out the form below to submit:

• 1. Your finished assignment
• 2. A link to your portfolio
• 3. A little more info about you

Submissions that do not include the Graphic Recording assignment will not be considered.

PHASE 2.Our team will review and decide whether or not to advance you to the second round of our hiring process: An initial round video interview and a possible follow-up Graphic Recording assignment. The purpose of this is for our team to get to know you better and further assess your skills and application of coaching & feedback.

PHASE 3. From there, we will be in touch to let you know if you have advanced to a final round interview.

If you’re accepted into the Sketch Effect Network, we’ll begin a training process that includes 3-week pre-training (at home) and a 2-day on-site training (in Atlanta, GA at our home office) after which you’ll know all about Graphic Recording the “Sketch Effect way”. Upon graduation, you’ll begin working gigs in your city and beyond. In other words, you get paid to sketch…and we handle the rest.
