About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Structural EIT/ Structural Designer to join our established team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of substation structural components, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for utility and industrial clients.
Key Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design of steel structures, foundations, and support systems in compliance with applicable codes (ASCE, ACI, AISC, IEEE, NESC).
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
Review vendor shop drawings for conformance to construction documents.
Coordinate with electrical, civil, and protection & control engineers to ensure integrated design solutions.
Conduct site visits for data collection, constructability reviews, and field engineering support.
Support project management activities including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
Progress into developing physical layout designs for high-voltage substations (69kV to 500kV), including equipment arrangement, bus configurations, and bill of materials.
Qualifications
Preferred: Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from ABET accredited University.
Preferred: Interest in learning Power Industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, NESC, ASCE).
Preferred: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering.
Required: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, STAAD, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar.
Required: An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
